All American English classes can be given on-site at your organization, at ARI's facilities in Ann Arbor, or online using our global virtual classrooms.

Seminars


In these small workshops, participants learn hands-on techniques to immediately begin speaking with clarity, confidence, and ease.

    In three and a half hours, participants:

    • Are taught the visual, sensory, and auditory techniques necessary to pronounce American English sounds that do not occur in other languages.
    • Become familiar with the patterns of rhythm, stress and intonation specific to American English pronunciation.
    • Receive guided practice and individual feedback.
    • Receive a copy of "American Pronunciation: Core Techniques for Success" book, audio CD and DVD.

    In seven hours, participants:

    • Learn the techniques necessary to articulate all Standard American English sounds. Specifically: 15 vowel sounds, 24 consonant sounds, and extensive patterns of rhythm, stress and intonation.
    • Receive intensive practice and coaching using ARI's proprietary materials, customized to each individual participant and their needs.
    • Receive a copy of "American Pronunciation: Core Techniques for Success" book, audio CD and DVD.

Customized Private Courses:


ARI develops customized private courses that:

  • Typically provide between 10 and 15 hours of instruction.
  • Teach the American English pronunciation techniques necessary to articulate all the components of free flowing speech: vowels, consonants, and patterns of rhythm, stress and intonation.
  • Utilize ARI's proprietary learning materials based on the Ravin Method® of rapid and long term language acquisition.
  • May include customized practice guides to reinforce the learning objectives.

Assessments:


ARI provides assessments to evaluate an individual's level of American English pronunciation proficiency.

ARI assessments include:

  • A 60 minute interview with a senior ARI faculty member. Interviews are provided either on-site or via teleconferencing
  • A phonologically balanced oral assessment to determine level of pronunciation proficiency.
  • A comprehensive report indicating assessment results with regard to vowels, consonants, rate of speech, voice projection, intonation, and patterns of rhythm and stress.
  • A customized roadmap for independent study.
  • A copy of "American Pronunciation: Core Techniques for Success" book, audio CD and DVD.

Tuesday Evenings at ARI:


Join non-native English speakers every Tuesday evening for a four week, intensive accent reduction workshop.

Students will learn the five components of correct English pronunciation: vowels, consonants, rhythm, stress, and intonation. Class size is limited to ten (10) participants. Attendees will receive individual feedback and opportunities for guided practice.

Wednesday Evenings Online with ARI:


ARI is now pleased to present our popular evening sessions using teleconferencing and video conferencing. Join non-native English speakers online every Wednesday evening for an interactive four week, intensive accent reduction workshop. Students can join our virtual global classroom from anywhere in the world!

Students will learn the five components of correct English pronunciation: vowels, consonants, rhythm, stress, and intonation. Class size is limited to eight (8) participants. Attendees will receive individual feedback and opportunities for guided practice. Technology support is provided for set-up.
